I have smoke sensors at home and when one played up one night I had to put a EOL in the panel to stop it from repeatantly setting of the alarm (1.30 am)then the same day cleaned out the smoke chamber (small ants) and reprogrammed a new fire input input characteristics that now allows me to isolate any fire input when the sensor starts playing up and before I can service it.Īs far as putting the smokes in a seperate area I have had shop owners complain that when they fumicate the place for pest control they wanted something that would not activate the alarm during the fumication processs so the fire sensors are programmed as instant but the alarm event code changed to a 1 and the area set for auto arming at the clients requested time. But if you had read between the lines I would have created a new fire configuration group with the added facility to isolate the zone. Point taken someone has finally agreed that standalone sensors are at times better then one connected to a security panel. Even the cheapest battery-only smoke detector will do a better job at alerting you of a potential fire than one connected to an alarm as Instant in an unarmed area. This is a bit risky IMHO, as the point of smoke detectors is to save lives, not property.
